    You list all the strengths you can think of for the company. Then you list all the weaknesses. Then you list the opportunities. And then the threats.

    Once you've done that, you look for ways to utilize the strengths to help address/mitigate the weaknesses, prepare for and take advantage of the opportunities, and defend yourself against the potential threats.

    It's a great way to structure the marketing strategy, develop a strong positioning/value proposition, and set a course for each element of the marketing mix.
