A short form for weblog, a personal journal published on the Web. Blogs frequently include philosophical reflections, opinions on the Internet and social issues, and provide a "log" of the author's favorite web links. Blogs are usually presented in journal style with a new entry each day.

How it has helped to enhance the customer relationship is that with the rise in popularity of blogs in 2004 senior management caught on to the trend and by January 2005 several types of organizations, had started using blogs to communicate with their customers/stakeholders. Many believe this corporate use of a tool that was used primarily by Internet enthusiasts will lead to a decrease in the popularity of the medium. Others believe that the use of blogs by organizations will add new voices and vitality to the medium.

At any rate it allows customers to communicate more effectively with companies and vice versa, and it does not appear to be slowing down in fact the medium is just getting started and is now in a new phase, one of where it can even provide a flow of revenue through PPC and banner ads being clicked on by these same customers.
