Impact Of Culture On The Vals Framework

Can someone suggest resources(preferably free!) on the Values and Lifestyle framework?
I want stuff on:
a. Evolution of the framework and a detailed description of the types
b. How does this framework differ from culture to culture?
c. Has any work been done on refining this framework to suit local cultures??? Eg: Modified VALS for India
