In Real Estate, What Music Stimulates Sales?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Someone once said to me, Enya was considered the worst artist to play on the sales floor. It made me think, which artists actually stimulate sales and make people want to purchase and feel comfortable and good about it? I am unable to find anything on the Net.

    Hi flemming_lk,

I’d go with general POP music. It has the broadest most universal appeal (hence the name POP) and is the most balanced between put-you-to-sleep and harsh and there is the highest likelihood that people will connect with the songs.

Also, I like the music in the Barnes & Noble bookstores, but for real estate – I don’t know.

    Good luck,

Disclaimer: This is my opinion. No research conducted.

Okay, that said, I can tell you that I played Norah Jones and Diana Krall CDs when my house was on the market. Don't know if the music helped, but I got a lot of positive feedback on the house, and the hard-working agent got it sold in 6 weeks in a VERY tough market.

Another idea... I've seen, heard (and sometimes purchased) the music compilations that Starbucks, Eddie Bauer and Pottery Barn stores carry. If they work in a retail environment, maybe they'd work just as well in real estate!
