It is possible that the problem is that you are not positioning yourself clearly, so you appear to be "too many things" to a prospective employer.

Try this: Identify a target employer you think would be right for you -- one where you can really make an important contribution to something that is mission critical for them. Then spend a few weeks researching that employer, the culture there, the business issues facing the company, problems they've had in the recent past, financial situation, etc. Learn as much as you can about them.

Then prepare a resume and cover letter that demonstrates how perfect you are for them and how your skills and experience can solve their biggest problem. Develop a strategy for getting your resume to the key decision maker (by name), or -- better still -- get an introduction to the individual by a mutual acquaintance.

If you approach the job search this way, your chances of landing the job you want will have increased from something less than 1% (for blanketing the world with resumes) to something over 50% (for highly-targeted, carefully researched direct contact with the right employer).

If you want to learn more about this strategic approach, it's in The Potato Chip Difference : How to apply leading edge marketing strategies to landing the job you want.

(The first step -- identifying and researching the target employer -- is just a first step. You need to prepare for the initial interview and follow-up contacts the same careful and well-choreographed way.)

First I would like to thank everyone for taking time to help me. Ok i do accept I provided very little information here, appologies for that.

Just to give an overview of my career so far. I studied commerce in 2000 in high school. After that i got through a good uni in India to study IT. During my study i found that IT market was developing fast and people had very little know how of it and were always frustated with their IT skills, I in my spare time started my own business training people using internet and later I started fixing and selling computers and other IT related work, also created a website and softwares on demand. One of my software was pretty good and i sold it to lot of firms. Meanwhile I got a Job as Assistant to Marketing Manager in India's to be soon largest pvt telecom co. (it was in launch process at that period) I took a survey project and completed it much before my stipulated time in a city of over a million population. Later I started doing presentations for Big Indian firms with my manager to get contracts. I also helped in developing POS all over city. The job became too demanding and i found myself working 12 hours everyday at age of 22 and salary was also not so lucrative even though i was working for 10 months. I decided to quit and joined a Accountancy firm where i worked on advising and guiding people on their investment needs. I was only paid if i get investments and i never ran out of money as i did good. I ended up my side business as I had to choose one. after working there for 7 months i made enough money to do my MBA, I got through uni in UK which was pretty Ok in ranking. Here i got selected to go to China and complete my Second semester there. Which i did and expertised in helping co. set up their business in China. At the end i completed my research dissertation in marketing (customer satisfaction in fast food industry) and meanwhile to support myself i took up job as pre sales negotiator (kind of telesales) in a local co. in UK since Sep last year. Now i have completed my education. I am now looking for job which can utilise my skills. I accept i have not great experience but i have rich experince. I started my business with £50 in 2002 and when i ended it i had made profit of £2500 by Dec 2003. My only problem has been I m too ambitious I just cant sit and I am always on a go. I keep ideas coming and going all time, I have helped many of my friends in business take effective decissions. The only thing I am looking is to have a international career, I dont want to get stuck in one place. I am very confused as I am unable to find job as all my prospective employers interviewing me either says experience too less. And one funny word i have come across- OverQualified. Now if i dont get chance to proove how much worth i can be, how can they know. So i am very confused what to do at this stage. I am only 24. I can setup my own business got some ideas but i want to work and gain more experience.

Please what can be right alternative to my career at this stage.

    Thanks to all again.

    Sanket,
Based on your experience I would suggest you again start your own business. Many small companies are looking for someone to help them out-source work in both India and China. You have the connections and the stamina for business to to both.
I have worked for both large organizations and for myself. The start-up side of working for yourself is harder but in 10 years, you will be glad you made that move. If you want to discuss further... you can contact me via my website..
