I have basic sections like Services, Clients, Press Page, About us etc. Looking at a lot of my competitors I notice that they most generally open thier site with their positioning statement. ...which switching between all 15 of them nearly NONE of them seem different from the other.
Obviously, I don't want to get bunched into the pack like they are, so I'm wondering if a different strategy would work better on my homepage. Instead of using my top two content boxed to explain what my company does, and how we can help you, i'm thinking of using the smaller box on the left to deliver and in depth testimonial from a current client (ie a small photo, brief teaser 2-3 sentences of something great they said, link to the client page for more info) and the larger box on the right, which is the main eye candy will be reserved for a "FEATURED CLIENT" of FEATURED SOLUTION which will be a teaser giving our visitors insight into how we solved a specific problem for one of clients, which links to a more in depth case study on our clients page as well.
My B2B company mainly serves entertainment brands, and with our music clients it seems very important that they see what other companies we have worked with. I think this may be a better use of my real estate to immediately show them WHY we are a credible and useful service that many of their peers have used, rather than run down a service list.
Let me know what you all think.
