Corona Not A Mexican Beer Brand Originally

Corona was a beer brand from Puerto Rico for decades but I can't find any reference to that information anywhere on the Internet. Did you know that loing before it became a member beer of the chic set, Corona was a beer in and from Puerto Rico? I mean decades before anyone heard of the Mexican Corona beer!

    Yes I know about that. Youy can find the story on Modelo's website. I think it is www.modelo.com, but you may run a google search to double check.

    Corona was originally owned and brewed by a Peurto Rican company before Modelo bought the brand back in the 50's (It hink) It didn't become widely distrubuted in Texas and Cali until the late 70's.

    Again, check the Modelo website for a more accurate account, but I am pretty close.

    I played golf with Chuck Frizzell at Berwin Country Club in Puerto Rico during the late 60's early 70". My family were the controlling interest in Corona beer. We would have never recommended putting a lime in our beer to cover up that is was old. The consumption rate was too high for it to sit on the shelve for long. Corona Mexico had the trade mark for the western part of the country; when Corona Puerto Rico finally was forced out of business it's remaining investors sold the rights for the eastern part to them.     It might have been,but mexico made it one of the best beers in the world ha!!!
