Tradeshow Ideas That Lead Our Audience To Our Site

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi there

Our company is an online job website (similar to Monster) but is doctors and nurses focused. We'll be going to one of the largest job fairs in the city trying to get the word out about our website. Our target audience are doctors and nurses.

Our goal is basically get the word out about our website by doing a "big bang" so to speak at the show. Maybe some sort of game or something that will lead the visitors to our website. We have all sort of brochures and giveaways to go with our live demonstration on screen during the show, but we want to do a big bang to grab a lot of attention and lead those folks to our website.

Can't wait to share some ideas. Thanks

Have booth staff dress as stereotypical doctors and nurses to attract your target (perhaps wearing buttons saying, "Wanted: Drs, Rns, and Lvns").

Certainly the key to making people use your site is to have lots of relevant ads for medical jobs, otherwise you'll campaign will quickly backfire (people will visit, see nothing, leave, and never return).

Create a custom search form for people: keywords, specialties, regions, etc. that they're looking for. Email them daily new postings.

To create some traffic, create a contest. For each person that fills out a search form (that has a validated email address), they have a chance (1 in 100,000?) to win something HUGE.

Other ways to make your site valuable are long-term useful: job interview tips (maybe even having people comment on job postings that they interviewed for?), medical jobs wanted (to allow employers to find people who are looking), etc.

It all depends on your booth size, location and design. It also depends on what your staff will look like and do in that booth. Another way to create noise is by advertising and offering a coupon of some sort in the show's directory. I hope you didn't miss the deadline which is usually long time before the actual show.
As for creative ideas, you need to elaborate a bit more for someone to give you a real good free advice.

    Thanks ilan

Just a side note that our website doesn't charge for posting. All the employers need to do is sign up and post, no strings attached really.

In terms of the "big bang", we are thinking about one or two huge gifts that would wow people and get people really excited. Something that would be an interest to doctors and would somehow relate back to what we do.

There is nothing short to preselling to bring people to your booth.

If you are doing a job fair with docs and nurses attending-- because you are only targetting them-- I bet they'll come.

But, are you sure they'll be there. Is the trade show marketers targetting them? What are you doing to self promote?

    Thanks for the ideas, casey

Our audience would be both people who are looking to post and people who are looking to search. however, for this conference, our main target would be people who are looking to search.

We want them to know our website existence and get them to browse our website.
