A Job In Marketing As A Product Manager /developer

Posted by kpalmer on 250 Points
What's the job pay?
It's government - full time, 40 hours a week.

What should be an acceptable salary. Do they pay for moving expenses? What other things can I negotiate? My kids will be 500 miles away, is it realistic to ask for flights x 4 per month?

Any responses, tips and tricks would be appreciated.

    which government?Canada? U.S.? Europe?
you see, there are some governments that will pay you something if you live in Europe.
otherwise, don't expect much from governments in general.
some governments have scale of pay depending on your rank, and not on your qualification and experience, so don't expect much there either.
but the most important thing, where are you?

    K,

Many salaries vary depending on where you live and what is expected of you. I would go onto a lot of the job search websites and do a salary check. I know some even have a 'quiz' you can take that will help determine what it should be, others will list what people in similar positions make in your area.

Like JC said, I'd doubt if they'd cover personal travel expenses but you may be able to compensate that with salary/vacation negotiation. If you're making more you can handle the expense or if you have more vacation time that equals more quality time with the family.

    Good Luck!!!!!
