What Do U Think Of Our New Blog Vaboomer.com?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi all. Just started a blog for Baby Boomers with my partner, Virginia. Virginia is a cultural anthropologist and has great insights into culture and trends. The site is culture, politics + support for baby boomers. We will soon list workshops and ebooks - financial strategy, all types of categories.

Please look at our new site and you might also want to Click on Video link in today's post to YouTube where I created a short montage/film on Woodstock Nostalgia + boomers.

Need your feedback and great insights!!! What r we doing right? wrong?

Thanks. ~ Nancy

I came across a really cool blog today (as you often do), check it out:

Lots of great graphic design, images, videos. I think visually it is the way a blog should be. Maybe you can add some video posts to your blog, spice up the banner and write editorials much like a magazine does. Readership is what blogs are for.

Most importantly, if I don't know what a "boomeranger world" is, I'm clueless about your viewpoint. Your tagline ("A stage of mind A State of Being") needs to clarify it better to help the random reader "get" your perspective.

I'd move the 3rd column (About) to the 1st column, making a two-column theme.

Your home page (vaboomer.com) quickly redirects to the typepad site: https://cornuecopia.typepad.com/the_portal_to_boomeranger, which is confusing to the reader. Host the blog on your own host.

I'd like to see you proofread a little more carefully. It leaves a negative impression to present yourself as educated and informed (i.e., the PhD for Virginia) and then to have such poorly constructed sentences, paragraphs.

Paragraphs should have one main point and then make a new one. Don't ramble on with long paragraphs that don't stick to one point. For one reason, it's harder on the eyes and your target audience is one with aging eyes. More white space (and white space is not just side margins) is important. You create that space by creating shorter paragraphs.
