Travel Product Utilization

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I am looking for some creative ideas, or one big creative idea, to increase the utilization of our corporate travel credit card by our employees who travel for the company. I have a marketing budget of $500K over a 3 year period to try and increase the utilization numbers.

Can't your company just mandate that all employees must pay expenses with the card while travelling for the company? That would seem to increase the use of the card? If this is the only way they the expenses will be reimbursed they will use it.

Perhaps I am not fully understanding.

...and what's the reason your company wants employees to use the corporate travel card?

Thank you for your responses. The decision has been made not to mandate the use of the card however we do want to strongly encourage it. Our company recoups a rebate based on percentage of spends hence the motivation to increase utilization. It also makes for a better audit trail. Right now we do not offer any kind of incentive for using the card. I like the idea of a rewards program. Any other ideas?

Yes - I would suggest conducting some market research to understand motivators among users, as well as perceived barriers to usage. Additionally, this research could also be used to test out some ideas to provide insight into which might be most successful. I think that until you gather data such as this, you don't really have any idea as to what will work and why. Since you have employee email addresses (I assume), you could do some focus groups to explore the usage of the card, generate ideas as to what will appeal to them, and then test these ideas over a larger proportion of the employee population.

Incentive is key..give them an added benefit to want to use their cards. however you having in mind that yopur people are have different preferences and opinions, you have to take the task of finding out what actuallly makes each one of them tick, what would they appreciate...what would really apeal to them..then you can come up with the right incentive idea that would cut acroos each preferences.

I'm as confused as everyone else. If it adds to the bottom line, why not mandate. Not sure whose card you're using, but you can also reimburse faster if they use the card....like weekly....or slower....like monthly...if they use another card.

    It's a soft mandate.
