Outsource Sponsor Seeking To Who?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
i have a major boxing event coming up in march next year which i am seeking sponsors for,to the tune of $150,000.

while i have met sponsors that are interested,my small company cannot handle all the proposal and counter proposal, meeting prospect companys every day,etc,etc..

we still have the planning of the event and marketing and logotics to handle.

are there companies that can actually do the sponsorship seeking for us in a sort of(they get 10 percent of every sponsor they close) kind of way..

how do i go about this and whom do i approach?thanks.

there are professional fundraisers out there-- but many sponsors do not like them. When they give to an event they want dollars benefitting the event and cause, not going into their pocket. Granted there is no reason to disclose to a sponsor that their representative is paid in this way, but professional fundraisers are known by sponsors -- as they've probably approached them before.

I would expand your base and assemble a fundraising committe to spread out the responsibilities. I'd also assemble PR committee and others to handle details and promotion of the event.

do marketing firms do them or is there some other type of company that i should approach?

there are two type of sponsors that i have come across, the first type are the ones who want branding, means their logo everywhere and their names eerywhere..

the second type are the ones who look at ROI,how sponsoring this event will increase their sales,etc,etc..

i would like to outsource this part of the event handling..who do i go to?

While you "think" these are two types of sponsors- they aren't. Both situations above are the same. A firm that wants their logos everywhere wants this to increase sales. There are many people out there competing for sponsorship dollars. And those responsible for distribution of these dollars must justify the event.

Almost every state has a nonprofit org -- you can call yours and ask about professional fundraisers. You don't need to be a nonprofit-- you just want to pick their brains. Here is a link to Colorado's -- call them and ask for the sister org in your state. https://www.coloradononprofits.org

You may also find this link helpful. https://www.afpnet.org/. Its the Assoc Funraiser Professionals.

I am sure if you start here you'll find one. You may still have to design your levels of sponsorship and sponsor benefits with their input.
