Know Of Any State License List Compilers?

Posted by markp on 500 Points
Greetings!

Does anyone know of a national compiler/aggregator of state contractor licensee lists? Seems I used to find them everywhere, now, not so much! =;-)

I am to launch some new products for master (commercial) plumbers and pipefitters and they are difficult to reach through trade publications which primarily go to the office-dwelling engineers/managers/owners, not the dirty-handed guys out in the field.

Other suggestions for directly reaching these specialty tradesmen are also most welcome.

Thanks much,

Mark

    American Society of Plumbing Engineers
    https://aspe.org/new/index.php

You can probably buy access to their list, advertise in their newsletter, or display at their trade show.

    Thanks Peter,

Yes I'm aware of ASPE (and about 30 other associations and unions in this fragmented space) however these guys are more the office dwelling engineers vs the overall-wearing, busted-knuckle, hands-on pipefitting and plumbing guys out in the field.

Some states require contractor licenses, others don't; I'm hoping to find someone has compiled these lists to market.

Does anyone have other suggestions for reaching these field-based guys? Some are hired on as contractors for a specific project, others are employees deep within large mechanical contracting firms...how to cost effectively penetrate to their level is one of the challenges I'm facing.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

This is a bit roundabout, but it may help. Try contacting Frank Hurtte (he's on this forum, and his web site is https://riverheightsconsulting.com.)

He specializes in helping distributors (including plumbing and electrical suppliers) improve their sales and marketing, but may know how to get through to the guys in the field.

    Jodi,
    Thanks for thinking of me....

    Mark,
The problem with reaching the group you are looking for is that they often work for others. Further, the regulations covering contractors licenses varies on a state-by-state and city-by-city basis.

The surest way to reach them is to target select markets and get the list via the city.
