Disclaimer Of Some Sort

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hello everyone,

I'm creating a "sample" magazine to present to my boss and potential advertisers on my magazine idea. The magazine contents focus more on tech and teens.

For the advertisement, although it's just a "sample" - I didn't want to leave it blank and says "Ads goes here". I've contacted several print designers and managed to get their past work on print ads for various companies.

I want to put a byline disclaimer of some sort stating the advertisement is just for illustration purpose and they did not actually advertise with us yet.

Hoping a short one like *Illustration purpose only or something similar.

I didn't want to get into any type of problems you know..

Hope you guys can help me out!

Kind regards,
Josh

    Hi there Phil,

    Thanks for helping me out.

The FPO seems to indicate the placement is final but the artwork isn't.

The problem is that the placement of the "sample ads" in my sample magazine isn't full page as I have a title hovering over the advertisement stating "Sample Advertisement" which in turns made the dimension of the advertisement display not in its actual size.

I'm wondering if there's other byline or wording we could use aside from FPO.

    Thanks!

it seems to me you do not want potential advertisers to think that you might be deceiving them. If it were me, I might copy the graphics from some ads, but for the text I would use:

I believe this will achieve the results you want, in an industry-standard way, and let your potential advertisers know you are a straight shooter.

Or, playfully use some old advertisements:

    Hi there telemoxie,

I do not have the capability of editing the ads nor do I want to.. I just want to have a disclaimer of some sort so I won't get into any trouble for using the ads in the magazine even though I've gotten the nod from the original designer who created the ads.

Thanks Jay but I already have the advertisements I want to use, I just want a disclaimer or byline of some sort.

Something like "for sampling purpose only" or "for illustration only" etc.

Desperately need help in this ..

In that case, halftone the ads to make them lighter, place "Your Ad Here" over the ad itself.
