There were mp3 players in the marketplace before Steve Jobs introduced the iPod.

Since you have provided almost nothing for us to go on, I would start with describing to truly competitive product or service offering.

    Dear Janice,

You appear to have your cart pulling your horse.

There's little point in advertising anything until you put a few points in order: what you're offering, who you're offering it to, what this thing or service does, what makes it stand out, what makes YOU stand out, and why, when given the choice of other suppliers, ought anyone to pick you.

This means you need to figure out an overall business plan, and you need to establish a cohesive marketing strategy that will give you detailed markers and pointers to keep you on track.

Business owners that skip these two important points and who think they can "just do it" and make their plan work by force of will often come unglued.

Sadly, watching television commercials and looking at ads in newspapers won't teach you how to effectively position your service or make it appealing to your prospective audience.

I could watch countless episodes of Heroes, House, and NCIS, and I could read all kinds of newspaper articles on what goes on in the Oval Office but none of these experiences would give me super human abilities, turn me into a top doctor or a Federal agent, or position me to become President of the United States.

Similarly, and regardless of how brilliantly they may be written, responses to your question in this forum may not give you the magic pill you're looking for because there IS no magic pill.

To attract people to your site you need to offer solutions to real problems.

You need compelling offers. You need to get people to know, like, and trust you, and you need to tell people simply but concisely what you have, what it will do to help them, and what you need them to do next in order to acquire whatever it is you're offering.

You also need solid guarantees, to reverse the risk and paint pictures of bright new futures, and build social proof into your overall selling proposition the guise of testimonials from previous and happy customers.

I hope this helps. Good luck to you.

Pick one of the top 25 experts over on the left. Go to their profile buy clicking on their name.

Then, real ALL the responses they've given. Then, pick another expert and do the same thing.

Before long you'll have a great understanding of marketing principles.

Then, come back with some more details.

People won't visit your site unless it's relevant to their needs. Once there, they won't buy from you unless they're convinced that you truly solve their problems (better than the competition). If you have these 2 issues in place, and testimonials to prove it, then focus on word-of-mouth, having one satisfied person share the "wow" with their friends, etc.
