Free Legit. Source For Us Federal Contracts?

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
Does anyone know of a source for
Free, legitimate listings of US Federal (and maybe state-municipal) contracts open for bidding?
There are plenty of scams and outrageously priced services but surely there has to be something no cost/low cost.....
Thanks!

Jay beat me to the federal link, but you can also look up by state.

    Here's New York:
    https://www.ogs.state.ny.us/purchase/searchbrowse.asp

And by country (this is for Westchester County in New York):

Search for government contracts [name of state] in Google.

Practically every good-sized city/county/state has a web that lists contracts.

kentucky.gov or illinois.gov or something. YOu can google it. Then, you're looking for the purchasing department.

Dont confuse the opportunity to bid on a project with actually getting the business. Much of this is open bid. Which indicates your pricing becomes part of the public record the day of the bid opening.

Further, having the worlds lowest price isn't enough. You need to back it up with real live sales activity.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the reality of the situation is that by the time most federal opportunities are published, a vendor has already been selected.

The good news is that the United States federal government is the largest buyer of goods and services on the planet.

more bad news: federal buyers do things their way, not your way. Lots of people look for cheap, fast shortcuts. But the reality is that selling to the federal government requires time, significant investment, and a willingness to conform to the way the government buys, rather than wishing they would fit in with your sales process. For example, the federal government gives preference to certain types of firms, such as firms owned by service disabled American veterans, Native Americans, women, companies located in HUB zones, and so forth. A campaign to successfully target the federal government might include setting up a subsidiary which is owned by one of these special groups.

I have lived in the Washington, DC area all my life, and have experience marketing and selling to the federal government. I would be more than happy to discuss this with you in much more detail. If you would like to discuss this further, click on my profile and send me an e-mail. Good luck.
