Writing An Awards Submission -1000 Words

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am working for an accountants and I have been asked to write an awards submission of 1000 words detailing why our firm should win the award and demonstrating our competitive advantage.

Does anyone have a template / format that I would find helpful ?

You don't need a template or format. You need the substance of what you're about to write. WHY should your firm win the award? What IS your competitive advantage, and HOW can you demonstrate it?

The template is a blank sheet of paper on which you write the answers to those questions in the clearest and most persuasive way you can.

Also - take a look at past winners submissions. You might be able to find a common theme for content.

Having been fortunate to have won six of these awards for marketing and publishing etc., here's how I did it:

    1. Be guided by the questions such as: "Demonstrate how you have xxxx" and "What were the results gained?"

    2. Make your answers as short as possible and give real figures - percentages, year-on-year increases, profit increases, costs reduced etc. --- whatever they are looking for.

    3. Explain what disadvantages you have overcome. These could be that you went into a new area or market, or that your firm is smaller than the others, or that you had a new team etc. Show how you overcame obstacles to your advantage.

Finally, try to put the main achievements as early as possible on the awards submission because the judges see lots and get tired of reading page after page just to find out the nitty gritty figures.

Hope that helps. It helped me!
