Trying To Market Music/concert Venue (not A Club)

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hey there, i am trying to promote and market for a small-midsize concert hall. Do I go about doing this when i have 5 years experience in radio promotions and nothing eles. I have great connections but not sure how radio marketing differs from concert venues. Can someone give me ideas so i can get this ball rolling.

Just a little more info will help us provide much better direction.

Where are you? What is the competition? Who is your target? What is your strategy ... your core message, the one thing you want your target to know about your concert hall?

I agree with Phil. The approach you need is to first get bands in, and this requires working with the agents.

In reality, there is usually a concert promoter who will set up events at a venue and arrange with the agents for the bands. Some are large companies that all they do is promote shows, other are part time promoters (such as when a radio station sets up their own show once or twice a year). You can either find a local promoter and get them to start using your venue, or become a promoter that sets up the events for your venue.

Thx this is really helping me. I live in houston and the venue is family owned in the downtown area. I will get in with the promoters and booking agents I know of and research others.
