Advertising Battle! Who Is Dominating?

Progressive or GEICO? Both companies are constantly neck and neck when it comes to advertising, branding, and advertising spending. Flo has become the most recognized advertising icon as of recent, but does GEICO's gecko still have enough brand equity to continue selling more policies than Progressive? Personally, I wish Flo would stomp on the lizard. Opinions?

I personally like GEICO's gecko better... Flo annoys.

I think I read recently that the gecko was going to be phased out. If so, it could be your lucky day! (But I'll miss him.)

Do we care? Why are you asking for our opinions? Do we look like their primary target audience? Coke or Pepsi? Hertz or Avis?

I apologize if this forum wasn't meant for a discussion like this. I was under the impression that this was a place to discuss marketing topics. Given that Progressive and GEICO have had extremely successful advertising campaigns over the last few years I was simply interested in the thoughts and opinions of other marketing professionals on what they like/dislike about each brand and campaign.

Jay, how do you know the public prefers the gecko? Maybe they like the caveman.
