Advertising/pr For A Christian Women's Day

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I have been tasked with advertising and creating pr material for our Women's Day of Renewal. I have graphics (logo), theme, and date... In the past they have sent letters to media outlets, churches, women's groups, etc... but the attendance has peaked and is now declining. I believe this is because the word really isn't getting out. I have created a Facebook page and am working on a slide show highlighting last year's day, but don't know how to drive people to the site, or the best way to reach out to new organizations, i.e., e-mail, snail mail, phone. And, I'm not sure what style to use in my promotional pieces. Our demographics have historically be 40+ yr old women, but we want to reach out to a much bigger group to include young women too. Also keep in mind that I have have to pitch my ideas to a committee in 3 days!

Have you thought about Twitter too? What about sponsored advertising on Facebook and Twitter (the latter can be expensive if you're not careful). How about a targeted Display network campaign targeting Christian-based websites (the display networks are the other side of Google/Bing Pay per click (search) advertising - PPC). With Facebook and Display advertising you can target demographics fairly closely - as well as geographically down to a zipcode.

All of the above would cost you less than a snail-mail campaign. it's also fast and you can plow the ideas and insights you gain back into your other activities for a better response - for example your headlines. Another thing is that you can work out where most of your interest is coming from and so target that with the more expensive kinds of advertising (phone/snail mail).

All of the above is inviting people, not driving them. I know Jesus drove the money lenders from the Temple, only if you see it from their point of view, they fled in terror rather than being driven ;-)

If you sorted out an online campaign this evening you would have some genuine results to show your committee in three days.

Further info. from Perry Marshall's site (put 'display' into the search box) https://perrymarshall.com and Howie Jacobson's Adwords for Dummies covers the basic elements of the display network as well as PPC. You can find him at https://askhowie.com

Any other thoughts, get back to me. It's late on this side of the planet though ... my response may be tomorrow.
