Well, there are people who need what you do. Especially if you are both reliable and honest. Honesty is a much maligned word these days, since all the charlatans claim it - and abuse it.

So do it instead. Tell them the truth about something you got wrong - believe me, the people who need a trustworthy person will recognize honesty a mile off. They won't mind your mistake, they will love your being honest.

The other way to look at this is to imagine someone who needs what you do, and what struggles they're having to find someone. Ask the questions they do, write a blog post about them and set it up on Wordpress or Wix (or any free service) - and start spreading the word via . Facebook and twitter.

You are in a 'service' industry and this means engagement is imperative. I know several small, local businesses who have built their fortunes through Facebook and Twitter. Getting a rapport going is the best way to make friends and lead them to trust you. Here's one, and they happen to be friends too ;-) https://www.facebook.com/pages/deKleineBaron/117932218282772

You could also buy traffic via. Adwords and Facebook. These are very fast and relatively inexpensive. If you do, read up beforehand - Howie's "Adwords for Dummies" should be in your bookstore. You can also meet him at https://askhowie.com You can also target localities with laser precision, limit your spend to a couple of dollars a day - and build another bridge to your customers.

    Does this help?

If you haven't already been hired by people, start by building up your clientele (work at a discount, if need be) so you have some strong social referrals. This process will also likely help you to better identify who's likely to want to hire your services, based on your unique skill set. When you know who's interested, then you can market yourself to them based on the ways they seek to hire talent (whether that be your local newspaper, Facebook, Yelp, social clubs, etc.).

Although this article is from 2001, it's a useful read for the business you're talking about: https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/37930
