No One Is Buying, Could It Be The Website Design?

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Our online webstore is up since february and have been getting regular visits according to stats 50 to 200 visitors a day, but still vry few people buy, customers come and move around the site, spend time but no one buys. Why ? Is there something wrong with my website? With my product? The description ?
I tried to have a more modern layout but maybe that is the problem. Someone said to me that is not too tech friendly. What does that mean?

Thank You!

It's a cool website, possibly ... too cool? There needs to be a balance between what's great to look at and what actually does business.

200 or so visitors a day is a substantial number. Do you have any data on how long people are staying? How long they spend on a page? Important: how many people visit your "reviews" page??? Because they'll do that when they're serious about buying. Another thought is to sort out some kind of server-side webstats (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AWStats).

There's very little in the way of information that tells them anything about what you're actually offering.

Your keywords are also a clue - hair extensions, clip in hair, clip hair extensions, human hair extensions, hair extensions clip in, clip-in, clip in hair extensions, clip hair extensions, hair extensions clip, clip ins, human clip in hair extensions, remy hair extensions, extensions clip in, clip extensions, clip in extensions, extension clip, extensions hair clip, extensions clip in hair, hair extensions clip in, clip hair extensions, extensions clip in human hair, luxury hair extensions, double drawn hair, miami, celebrity, hair extentions, thick hair

you should have a page for each of these; or at least closely grouped keywords. With some serious engaging copy people would not only look at your stunning photos, but know what to expect and how to get these effects for themselves.

The point is that adding copy can be done over the space of several weeks. More urgent is to sort out a newsletter so that people who like your style can be kept "in the loop". Without this you're leaving a substantial amount of money "on the table" - that is to say, not all buyers will buy on the first visit. Many then forget you're around, and you're history!

What are your thoughts on the issues I've raised?

Your browsers could just be very uncertain. You might have to "open the hood" a little...show them how your product is used, how easy it is to attach (if it isn't, at least show a professional setting-up a live model's hair.) You may have to do some educating.

You need to find some (local) samples of your target audience and ask them what they think/see. If you're getting visitors, but no sales - it's likely because it's not immediately clear what you're selling, to whom, and how your products are better than the competition. It also appears that this isn't a low-cost impulse buy, which means your visitors are likely to return a number of times (and comparison shop) before choosing you. Also, when I clicked on red hair extensions, I see a Paypal banner before I'm convinced I'm interested in buying what you're selling. Finally, re-read all of your customer reviews. Each one has a gem of idea of why people are hesitant to buy (from you).

You have no clear positioning statement on your home page; the Flash scrolling images are too big and are visually irritating; there appears to be no horizontal menu; there is no "ABOUT US" page I could find. How might these things be impacting the perceptions of visitors?
