Marketing A Giving Kiosk

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Our church will be implementing a "giving kiosk" where people can give to the church using credit/debit cards istead of cash or check. We do not want it to fall to the wayside, and want poeple to activiely use it. How can we advertise/market this new device?

In your church newsletters, before or after sermons in community announcements, in your social media streams, and on your church website. You may also want to send a press release to local or regional newspapers.

It's a 'Point-of-Sale' device. I'm guessing that you have a number of 'giving' themes during the year - eg for Christmas, Easter, Harvest/Thanksgiving. When you design the theme, make the kiosk an integral part - for example decorating it (eg with pictures on a cardboard surround) and adding on-screen images in keeping with the theme for the 'Give here' part of the fund raising. For instance you might want to put arrows, or footprints on the floor directing people to the kiosk.

Once the novelty has worn off, the refreshing and retheming will keep people going back and help establish its use. I'd also be careful to avoid making it tacky - eg flashing lights, sound, donor-of-the-week ideas - it would make it too much like a slot machine. A gift is something personal and should be treated with suitable integrity and respect so the theming needs to be done with care and taste.

Have other churches (in your region) implemented such a kiosk? If so, what strategies did they learn?
