Good Marketing Or Clickbait?

Posted by mthompson on 50 Points
Is it enticing or clickbait to use a percent off in a web headline without the actual price? (E.g., Brand X frying pan is 30% off until August 31)

Thanks!

If you are offering that (and didn't pump up the full retail price before offering the discount), I don't think it is clickbait.

Enticing if it's an honest offer.

Clickbait. If what you are offering is an honest to goodness deal, than just say it up front and you will get the clicks anyway. Even if you get the clicks from offering no number percentage most people will leave without spending money if they feel duped. Then you run the risk of building distrust instead of trust with prospects. The idea is to get people to click so they will stay and look around your site so they will spend more.
