Website Critique

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hello, just opened my online store a few months ago, and have had sales. We are a northern California business, and we sell a variety of fashion accessories. We have had a lot of traffic, and likes on facebook. However, conversions are slow. I would truly appreciate any advice, and or critique.

The first thing that strikes me about your site is that products images are small, product description is minimal, and product is not shown with a model. Give your prospective buyer a warm sense of how your accessories would look and make them feel.

You blow a lot of vertical space with your branding on top. The revolving images don't look as sharp (resolution-wise) as the do in their static images. The word Product is there a lot (not counting in your name), that seems colder than it has to be (you use Gifts once). I'm not sure what this says, it might need some editing, "Being a family owned business has enabled us to communicate to a closer knit spectrum."

Conversions are slow because there is NOTHING (either visually or in words) in the top 33% of your website to tell me what you do, what you sell, or who it's for.

I would recommend working on the pictures. Make sure when placing them you over stretch them. If you don't have the money to spend on professional photography your I-phone can do the trick but make sure not to reduce the size always keep your photos at 72dpi when posting them. Also your logo is too much on the top the page I would recommend creating a header bar that houses your logo no more then a 1". Use the main part of your homepage to promote specials or featured products.
