Grand Re-opening For Body Shop (3 Biz, 1 Corp)

Posted by veryberryrosiered on 50 Points
Within a year my workplace will be undergoing a grand reopening after an extensive renovation. The facility will transform the surrounding buildings because it will have a glass showroom. Currently, there is golf club on one corner and a plant nursery on different corner. There is a lot of nature in this part of Whitby, ON. The company will have new service bays which will better accomodate the needs of the growing population in the Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa region. Once the facility is complete the grand reopening has to happen. I've begun my research. I'm looking for any suggestions or case studies of similiar companies. Just to recap - the company is a thriving body shop with towing and sales. Any ideas on how I can make this really sing?

Huh? Are you thinking that people who don't need auto body services might somehow be interested in a grand reopening?

What is the objective? How will you know if your plan worked? What are the metrics?

Not sure I get this. Why would your grand opening be of interest to folks who don't need auto repair?

Are you looking for ideas for a single grand opening event or ideas to help you reposition your shop's marketing?

All you can really do is show potential customers that you are easy to do business with... easy scheduling, rides to work/home, useful business hours, clean waiting room/scheduling room. That you do great work... maybe show your state of the art equipment in passing, certified techs. A couple before/after pictures might be good. Be sure to mention anything you've done for the community, green initiatives, etc. Be the kind of place that customers and employees can brag about.

Thanks for your reply. Good points. I think for this it's more grassroots. The consumer who is going to the neighbouring businesses will undoubtedly be drawn to the new facility out of curiousity. But the intent behind the post was to get articles or examples of other grand reopenings. Maybe I shouldn't have posted it under Advertising/PR.

Sales operations are often very successful with grand openings.

Hi there: I do the marketing for a collision repair shop in Alberta (three stores). We did a huge event and it was featured in one of the industry publications. Our goal was to make the shop a part of the community (we positioned it as a way to thank our city for supporting our business). The event itself was very successful but as with any activity like this, difficult to measure if it actually contributed to our revenues. All I would say if find ways to tie to things our consumers care about (in our case, it was local art, sports celebrities, local food trucks, classic cars, etc).
