Website Critique Needed

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We've just spent a lot of effort rebuilding our site and relaunching it. Lots of SEO tricks, new content, and more.

My question is: Does it seem to work? To hang together? To drive prospects to the "contact us" button?

What do you think?

    Hi Mac,

First I must say very nice site. Well done.

I am viewing your site in firefox 1.0 with a dial-up connection:

page was a little slow to load, but it still was reasonable.

Only one of the links on the home page changes colour when you hover over it (service spot light). I like the green it turns.

You seem to use the word "staffing" a lot on the "company" page, maybe lose a few of the unnecessary "staffing" words. I like the client spotlight at the bottom.

You should put a file size beside the "StaffSuite® Brochure" so know how long it might take to download.

But other than that it is a dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmm good site. Well-done.

    To answer your questions:

    1. Yes it works.
    2. It hangs together. Like monkeys in a tree :)
    3. Well I am going to tell my boss about your product, they are looking for a new staffing app (I think). What does that tell you?

    Hi, Phil.

I love everything about the home page, except... what's the Call To Action?

Directly underneath the text "staffing software designed by staffing companies," it seems like there needs to be a brazen link labeled "See what we mean!" to take the visitor deeper.

You do have a "learn more" link further below, but it's under a Featured News heading -- that's a bit confusing. Am I being led to a product page or a press release? Ah, it's a product page... but the link next door to it takes me to a press release.

Inconsistencies like that might not be a big deal to your staffing product customers, but it will hurt your effort to attract web design customers.

Overall, if I were in the market for products like yours, I would have a good impression of your company -- but not enough of an impression of your PRODUCTS without seeing at least a couple of screen shots. (Don't make me go through the hassle of downloading a PDF to take a peek.) I would probably contact a competitor with more "real" product visibility.

Other than that? Nice site design, well-written copy.

    - Shelley
