"grand Opening Of Hat And Accessories Boutique"

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am seeking ideas for the opening of my hat and accessories boutique in Richmond Virginia. The space is minimal, located in a Victorian house on the first floor, three rooms in total. It is located in a semi residential, commercial street. While the space is adorable, it is not spacious. I want some ideas to get people to come in and make it fun. Short of giving away the store.... what else can you recommend. It probably has a capacity of 25 people tops at any given time. I want to have "home" party groups rather than a retail walk in store. I plan to open the end of September.

I would suggest having an intimate Open House party. Set aside a date for the party and generate interested people by either sending out open invitations to surrounding residences, other shop owners that may compliment your business, or even suppliers. Allow each invited person to bring a guest.

You could even print up some lovely invitations from your home pc especially for the occasion, detailing the event.

You can even break up the day with several small parties (perhaps an hour for each group you'd like to entertain). Serve cookies and punch and allow the guests to mingle and speak with you about your boutique.

This Open House party date can also be reserved for annual Open Houses in the future. I previously worked for a company that held public and private open houses to display their shop designs and products and it certainly helped generate business at little cost. Not to mention that in time, the community looked forward to the same date every year especially for the Open House.

It seems to me that if your idea is to generate party groups rather than walk-in customers, the best thing to do is to *show* them exactly what you can offer (in so far as a party is concerned).

Hope this helps. Good luck to you and congratulations on the opening of your boutique.
