Sponsors care about how many prospects you can get their product seen by. That means you need to know: how many people will attend the event, their demographics (age, income, gender, location, etc.), the event theme (to ensure that a MADD event isn't sponsored by a beer company, for example), and potential media exposure (so their information will be seen by more than just the attendees).

Sponsors need to know WIIFM, what's in it for me.

I have run more than I remember events of this type.

Find a champion. Someone who identifies with your event. that will cut thru the red tape. If you expect to just mail something to someone blind-- you won't get much in results. Competition for these events is high. Your personal contact will make all the difference.

They care about exposures. How many people will your event bring. What value are they to them.

Do a strong value statement. There is plenty of info available to justify your values. Use it. They want value.
